Netanyahu has finally got his wet dream. Trump has used the might of the US military to attack Iran, alongside Israel, a sort of double team of Dr. Evil and Mini me.
Iran seems to only really have one choice of action, that is to hit the US and Israel hard enough and long enough that they stop, and think twice about future attacks. It's telling that Trump started this early on Saturday, giving himself almost two days before the markets re-open, this implies that Trump wanted everything over before the markets had time to react. If anything it might be the price of oil and rate of inflation that makes Trump stop.
It's now Friday March 6th, and Iran has done many of the things it said it would before the attack was launched. They have hit US bases throughout the region, shutdown the Straits of Hormuz, hit ports and refineries closing down the movement of oil and gas, and obviously hit Israel directly. The market price of oil and gas is rising rapidly, with knock on effects for any goods that require manufacture and or delivery, therefore inflation will rise, and many economies will suffer. Also the very expensive interceptor missiles used by the US and Israel are in short supply, and there is a relatively short finite supply.
It looks at this stage that Iran (although it is getting battered) is holding the better cards than US/Israel, and Iran's position gets better as time goes on. If Iran can last the next few weeks, then the interceptor missiles will run out - leaving Israel and US assets defenceless, plus the pressure from the markets will be massive. Not to mention public opinion, this is already an unpopular war (outside of Israel), imagine how more unpopular it will be when there are huge increases in the cost of living, everyday goods and casualties increase.
Trump can stop this, and most people driven by logic and common sense would probably realise that a real blunder has been made. Unfortunately Trump seems unable to admit to ever making a mistake, and is probably more likely (driven by Israel and his neocon administration) to double down, and even consider ground troops.
Still repeating Israeli propaganda over two years later. No babies had their "heads cut off" on October 7th, and I don't know where "chopping women in half" came from, unless he's confusing that with some magic act he saw. https://x.com/infolibnews/status/2030434514288140516?s=20
Oil/gas prices still rising, fertiliser up by over 30%. The US has no answer to the closure of the Straits of Hormuz. Trump saying that US warships will escort tankers, and arrange insurance, is just a crock of shit. Looking more likely that the only way this war ends is by the US negotiating a deal with Iran, a far more favourable deal than before, with cast iron guarantees.
The US and Israel cannot open the Straits of Hormuz, so they can't stop the catastrophic economic effects of oil/gas and fertiliser ingredients shortages world wide. That is a ticking clock, that is going to put a huge pressure on the US administration from rocketing prices at the pump, rampant inflation and faltering stock markets. On top of that pressure is the known shortages in intercept missiles held by both the US and Israel. Iran has a huge arsenal of missiles and drones, on top of which they can build hundreds of drones per week. Once the missile/drone barrage goes unanswered, the Israelis in particular will start to receive much more damage, but more importantly the Israeli public has been largely protected from the effects of war on their on soil. The Israelis seem to have little experience and a reduced appetite to sustain what they have been dishing out to the Palestinians, Lebanon, Syria etc. for decades. No doubt the US will be very reluctant to negotiate themselves out of this unprovoked war of choice, but Trump will little alternative. All this death and destruction, because of the hubris and idiocy of one man listening to the faulty advice of psychopaths.
