Somethings gotta give, and I don't think it will be Iran. The US has two choices, either escalate or negotiate, and a limited window based on the global economy. Escalation would be the totally wrong thing to do, and counterproductive, but who knows with Trump and the Israelis.
Now May 30th and Trump is still spewing bullshit about a "deal" with Iran. At this stage it does seem ridiculous that the media is still reporting every contradiction that Trump makes, which happens multiple times every day. Trump will eventually have to really make a deal, but only when every other avenue has been exhausted.
Can the US stand up to Israel re the MOU with Iran? We will see. No doubt Israel will try to reignite the war with Iran, probably by attacking Lebanon, using any flimsy pretext. The US is at a crossroads in its relationship with Israel, they either leave Israel to continue fighting Iran on their own, (because they won't stop) or continue to be led by the nose and inveigled into Israel's military bitch.
So now the Straits of Hormuz are closed and the Bab El Mandeb, the strategic oil reserves are seriously depleted, China will soon need to start importing oil again, and diesel plus fertiliser are in short supply. Time is running out for Trump and the Israeli lobby, apparently the situation will become critical by mid August. Iran will be in a much stronger bargaining position, ultimately this will be resolved by diplomacy and not militarily, when that happens I hope Iran demands a real ceasefire for the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
When don't sanctions on their own work ? All the time. Including this load of bollocks by Trump and Bessant. Both Trump and Netanyahu have important elections coming up within the next couple of months. Unless things change drastically before then, it's hard to believe that even these two kings of bullshit can sell the Iran war as a success.
